Transferring video from my camcorder to my PC?

Alright. I have a digital camcorder (mini DV). I want to transfer videos to my PC. I know that I use Windows Movie Maker, but I have a DV device (but I have a place to plug one in on my camera). My questions are:-Where can I find a DV device?-DV is a device connected to the PC? (I think everything I have USB ports)-If my PC is not compatible with a DV device, I can make it compatible?
